ENLAR’s President, Thea Dunmire, has a unique background ideally suited to providing expert advice to assist EHS professionals who are struggling to understand and develop programs to meet complex environmental, health and safety requirements.
In addition to an engineering degree (BSE in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa), Thea is also an experienced environmental attorney (Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University College of Law).
Thea started her environmental career as an Assistant Regional Counsel with the United States Environmental Protection Agency. She then became a partner in a large law firm where she assisted clients with establishing environmental compliance programs, conducting internal investigations, resolving enforcement actions and preparing permit applications.
She founded ENLAR Compliance Services in 1997 and spent many years assisting organizations in establishing effective environmental and occupational health and safety management systems. She also participated in the development of several management system standards, including ISO 14001, ISO 19011 and ISO 45001. Most recently, Thea used her expertise to improve the regulatory compliance programs of a large regional water utility as its Regulatory Compliance Senior Manager.
Thea is an author and professional trainer who has written numerous articles and developed specialized training programs to pass her expertise on to hundreds of EHS professionals over the last 30 years.
Thea’s mission is to help EHS professionals identify and understand environmental legal requirements so they are confident in establishing effective environmental compliance programs for their organizations.
