What is “paperless” data collection?
“Paperless” data entry occurs whenever you enter information
directly into a computer system without first recording it to paper.
This works great for information you can conveniently enter while
sitting at your desk in front of your computer keyboard. It does not
work as well for data you collect in the field - on a manufacturing
line, in a warehouse or 20 feet up a discharge stack.
For field data most people still rely on “paper and pencil”
collection, typically on some sort of paper form, with subsequent
manual entry into a computer system.
